Get your calendar off your computer and onto your wall! In this MAKE THIS post, we will show you how to make a colorful wall calendar using Colorhouse Chalkboard paint. Getting organized never looked so good- let’s get started!
You will need:
1 qt Colorhouse Chalkboard paint NOURISH .06
1 qt Colorhouse Chalkboard paint METAL .06
1 qt Colorhouse Chalkboard paint METAL .05
1 qt Colorhouse Inspired Eggshell ASPIRE .06
3/4“ Blue painter’s tape
¼” Striping Tape
3 Small foam rollers and trays
1 1/2″ nap roller and tray
Step 1 –Measure, mark-off and tape outside dimensions of your calendar with with the blue ¾” tape and the level. Our calendar is 56”L X 52”H.
Step 2 – Roll ASPIRE .06 inside the entire square. This color will become the accent lines. We chose ASPIRE .06 for it’s cheeriness, but you can choose any Colorhouse hue for this part.
Step 3 – Using your ruler and pencil, make tick marks every 8″ horizontally across the top of the ASPIRE .06 square. Going down the left side of the square, make one tick mark 4″ from the top and then every 8″ til you reach the bottom of the square. Placing your level on the marks, draw faint pencil lines across and down to make your grid. When you are done, you should have 7 boxes across and 7 down.
Step 4 – Follow the lines on the grid and tape off squares with ¼” striping tape.
Step 5 – Roll second coat of ASPIRE .06 over the striping tape, this helps to insure crisp edges on your striping (you want crisp edges!) by sealing the tape with the same color. This is an old painter’s trick.
Step 6 – Roll out the 3 Colorhouse Chalkboard paint colors in each of the squares. We did a random pattern of three colors- NOURISH .06, METAL .06 and METAL .05
Step 7 – Let dry for 48 hours. Next, condition your Chalkboard Calendar with chalk by rubbing the entire surface with the side of a piece of chalk and then dry erase.
Step 8 – You are now ready to start planning your month on your chalkboard wall calendar!
